CONCEPT DRAWING

TEMPLATE LAID OUT

Template printed out to 32" x 32" and mounted to foam core.  Template is then cut into sections which will be hand-built individually. 

CONSTRUCTION DETAIL 1

First section showing internal and sidewall slab construction. Clay body used, Minnesota Clay Number 7# earthenware.  

CONSTRUCTION DETAIL 2

Section two construction using combination of slab and pinch construction. 

SECTION ONE & TWO ROUGH FINISH

Two sections completed, these will now slow dry for 2-3 weeks. Final surface smoothing will then be done along with surface design. 

CONSTRUCTION DETAIL 3

Sections three and four using combination of slab and pinch construction. 

CONSTRUCTION COMPLETED

Construction on sections have bee completed.  Piece will now be allowed to dry slowly for 2-3 weeks.

SURFACE TREATMENT STUDY

Surface treatment study by Eric Pilhofer.  Black stain with natural clay.
